Nestled in our Lynnwood community resides a cherished 24-year old playground. However, time has worn down this space and accessibility issues bar some from play.

Imaginations will soar in our new park plans: A paved path links Lynnwood School right to the fun. There will also be a vibrant play space with pour-in-place rubber, engineered woodchips, and some sand. Treasured old trees provide shade and peace. Equipment will inspire creativity, imagination, and resilience. Special features will ensure this is an inclusive space for mobility challenges and neurodiversity.

As home to one of just four Edmonton Community Learning Skills (CLS) programs serving students with diverse abilities, Lynnwood School dreams of an inclusive park tailored to support the developmental, physical and social growth of all abilities.
Accessible design enables all community members to navigate, participate and connect freely through inclusive recreational spaces.
Revitalizing this public space breathes new life into a gathering place for all.

We asked the Lynnwood community why a park is important, visualizing an inclusive space through the eyes of families of all abilities and ages.
I have been taking my grandkids to Lynnwood Park for over 10 years. We have always enjoyed the playground with its numerous playing areas and the open spaces for running and sports. I would love to see an improved, updated park for other grandparents to enjoy with their grandkids no matter the age or ability.
As a grandparent and a lifelong Lynnwood resident, I have been submerged in the decades of growth of this community, especially noticing the continued large presence of young families and what Lynnwood has to offer them for activities. I am so excited about the prospect of our new park that will have components necessary to include all children. Building a path to the park from the school, and pouring ground around the equipment that is wheelchair friendly is unique to the parks I have visited throughout the city. Lynnwood park will truly be an anomaly, a place for all children to explore and call home.
Vibrant communities consist of people of all abilities, and creating a playground that is inclusive of all abilities will allow our Lynnwood to truly thrive! All children grow best when they are able to explore and move and experience the outside world with all their senses, and our playground will make that possible.
